Welcome to Issue 2 of the UK Fluids Network newsletter, a regular summary of the Network's activities and news from the UK Fluids community.
1. Registration
The Registration page https://ukfluids.net/register is now live.
If you are a UK-based fluids researcher, please enter details about your research interests and application areas. You can change or add to them at any stage.
This data will build into a searchable UK directory of fluid mechanics researchers, users, and SIGs (as explained in the UKFN Case for Support: https://ukfluids.net/admin).
2. Second call for Special Interest Group proposals
A new call for SIGs has been launched: https://ukfluids.net/sig
Before preparing your proposal, please see the results from the first call (see next item)
The closing date is 31 January 2017.
3. Results from first call for SIG proposals
A total of 46 proposals were submitted, of which 26 were selected for funding, representing 63% of the funds earmarked for SIGs.
The selected SIGs are listed at https://ukfluids.net/sig.
The webpage contains statistics about the first call and a list of activities and outputs compiled from all 46 proposals, which may be useful to those preparing a new proposal.
56 institutions were represented in the selected SIGs, which named 481 different UK academics. The proposals also named a further 47 industrial and research organisations, featuring 75 additional UK fluids researchers.
