A snapshot from a three-dimensional direct numerical simulation of a falling liquid film with inlet forcing is shown. The wave structure shows a large solitary hump preceded by series of front-running capillary ripples and succeeded by a long flat tail. The film Reynolds number is 100. The simulation has been carried out with 56 cores.
